Experience
Cynthia Lyons has been practicing law in the Upper Cumberland for over 25 years. She started her journey into this beautiful area in Crossville, and she is now based in Cookeville.
Career
She began her career in the Upper Cumberland in private practice, handling divorces, general civil litigation, and criminal defense work.
Her passionate belief in the paramount importance of the Bill of Rights to the fabric of American society led her to accept a position with the Public Defender’s Office. In her fifteen years there, she took full advantage of the opportunity to vigorously defend her clients’ rights by energetically representing hundreds of individuals accused of crimes. Cynthia aggressively represented people accused of everything from public intoxication, to DUI, to aggravated assault, to drug crimes, to murder. This opportunity allowed her to practice in all seven counties which comprise the Thirteenth Judicial District – Putnam, Cumberland, White, Overton, Pickett, Clay and DeKalb.
Current Location
Cynthia now provides a more full service representation to her clients, while still incorporating her vast criminal defense experience. Her goal is always to help her clients, whatever their legal needs might be, and she is well equipped with experience, drive and dedication to guide clients through the maze of divorce, child custody, civil litigation, criminal defense, wills and probate of estates.
Education
Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University.
She earned her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Indiana University School of Law.
